Hi there!

First, I must apologise for the radio silence in recent months. The year has been a crazy one so far, but it’s definitely been a debut year that I’m so grateful for. Can you believe there is still even more to come as we round the year off?

As we’re in autumn (the season for reflecting, and reaping the things we’ve sown) I wanted to reach out and offer an update of where things are up to. With plenty of twists and turns on and off the page, there will be lots to talk about today and in my next newsletter in December.

The Incident Room

This summer, I launched my brand-new podcast aimed at crime readers and writers: The Incident Room. I’ve enjoyed every second and loved spending time with all of my guests.

The DCI de Silva Crime Thriller series

I’ve received so many messages asking when book two in the DCI de Silva Crime Thriller series is out.

Book two: BETTER OFF DEAD (pictured here) will be available from Thursday 22 January 2026 from bookstores and online, and is a direct sequel to BLACK WATER RISING. I’d really love to ask you to consider buying from an indie bookshop where you can. They’re such an important part of the industry and they need our support.

What’s next? Well, the title of book three in the series is already out there in the wild. NO PLACE LEFT will be available from Thursday 17 September 2026.

I’ll be sharing a cover reveal for book three very soon with you.

Upcoming Events

SOLD OUT: Noir at the Bar, Southport

Wednesday 29 October, 7pm.

I’ll be at this sold out event alongside some brilliant authors: T.M. Payne, Sarah Moorhead, Sarah Mellor, Jo Cunningham, Carol Maginn, David Beckler, Elliott Sweeney. The evening will be hosted by none other than Zoë Richards! This event is brought to you by Wine & Words by Watson.

Newcastle Noir

Friday 5 and Saturday 6 December.

This is a two day event based at Newcastle Central Library. I’ll be on a panel with the lovely Daniel Aubrey and Trevor Wood on Saturday 6 December, for our “Suspicious Minds” panel. You can book your tickets here.

Stockport Noir

Saturday 31 January, from 9:15am – 6:30pm.

The second Stockport Noir brought to you by crime writer Chris McDonald and Serenity Booksellers has been sold out for months now. But I will be on a soon-to-be-announced panel. If you were unable to get tickets this year, keep your eye out for 2027 early next year. You can find out more about the festival here.

Cheshire Crime Writers Festival

Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February

The inaugural Cheshire Crime Writers Festival from The Curious Cat Bookshop in Frodsham. The festival will be held at The Best Western Forest Hills Hotel – Frodsham. I’ll be appearing on the the Police Procedural panel with MJ Lee on Sunday 8 February at 1:45pm. You can buy your tickets here.
